Being a designer bridal boutique, we work with a limited amount of custom brides every year.
The ‘custom gown’ is the wedding dress that is designed and created for the bride that has a specific dress in mind and cannot find it anywhere.

The process of creating your custom wedding dress starts with designing your dream wedding dress and is followed by literally creating your dream dress.
1. DESIGNING YOUR DREAM WEDDING DRESS
Initial Consultation
The custom dress design process begins with a half an hour, one-on-one consultation with Daci.
The ideal time to reach out for the ‘initial consultation’ is 8-12 months before your wedding. However, don't fret if your wedding date is less than six months away. Please contact Daci as soon as possible. We’ve helped ‘last minute’ brides or brides with short engagements before.
For the consultation please gather all your wedding dress ideas and inspiration. You will discuss your favorite dress silhouettes, styles, textiles and colors. During the consultation Daci will get to know you, understand your vision and help you narrow down the design and style of your dream dress.
The initial consultation will take place over FaceTime or in person at our showroom in Boise, Idaho. For the brides who prefer email we have that option available as well.
Designing your dream wedding dress
After the initial consultation, if you decide to move forward with the design process Daci will start to design your dream dress. The dress design fee is $750 and is due at this time. The amount will be fully applied towards the final price of your custom gown. The custom gowns start at $4,500 and average at $5,500.
Daci will take a week to ten days to design and draw sketches of your dream dress. She will research and gather silks and laces for you to choose from. You will be part of the dress designing process to the smallest detail.
At the end of the designing process you will be presented with:
The sketches of your dream dress with details.
A bundle of fabric and lace samples
Color samples
Photos and videos of your dream dress mock up, created on the dress form for you to visualize in true form.
The price quote. The design fee will be applied in full towards your custom dress final price.
2. CREATING YOUR DREAM WEDDING DRESS
Timelines
After the custom dress is purchased , we create a custom fitting timeline. The custom dress fittings timelines will be created to accommodate your schedule. The fittings will take place at the showroom in Boise and over FaceTime.
Measurements
Daci will take detailed measurements to begin to create your custom dress. The dress will perfectly fit your size and measurements. For ‘out of state’ brides Daci will guide you how to take your own measurements over FaceTime. It takes about 15 minutes to take detailed measurements.
Dress fit and dress design
When creating your dream dress the main focus is the way the dress will fit you and the final design of the dress. Every seam and stitch is scrutinized. Every portion is dialed in. Attention to detail is paramount. After the fit is completed we will move on to finalizing the dress design.
Fittings
We need 1-3 fittings to create your dream dress. However, not all wedding dress designs require an in-person fitting. The fittings take place at ‘Daci Gowns’ showroom or over FaceTime. On average, the fittings are 6-8 weeks apart, which gives Daci time to work on your custom dress. There will be photos, videos and emails during this time. The fittings are 30 minutes to one hour long.
Generally the first fitting is to make sure the pattern we create fits you perfectly.
The second fitting is what’s called a ‘design fitting’. This is where all the fine details of your dream dress unfold. Every design feature comes together at this point.
The third fitting is when you pick up your finished dress.
A few other details you might want to know
about the custom gown process
The fittings for our ‘out of state’ brides take place most of the time over FaceTime. Some out of state brides decide to come to Boise for the design fitting.
Over FaceTime or in person Daci’s goal is that your dress will fit you perfectly at completion.
At the final fitting most brides will get their hair and makeup done and bring a few guests to celebrate. At this time, you will also receive the original dress sketch with the final updates of your gown, signed by Daci.
At completion the custom dress for ‘out of state’ brides will be shipped UPS. At request, after you receive the dress we will schedule a FaceTime when you try the dress on.
